Long‐term cognitive and pulmonary functions following a lower versus a higher oxygenation target in the HOT‐ICU and HOT‐COVID trials: A protocol update

Acta Anaesthesiol ScandPublished Protocol and statistical analysis plan update for secondary outcomes of the Handling Oxygenation Targets in the Intensive Care Unit (HOT-ICU) and HOT-COVID randomised trials

Study context

Population
Adult ICU patients with acute hypoxaemic respiratory failure (HOT-ICU) or confirmed COVID-19 (HOT-COVID), enrolled at selected Danish sites and surviving to 1 year after randomisation
Planned comparison
Lower vs higher oxygenation target
Primary endpoint
Long-term cognitive function (Repeatable Battery for the Assessment of Neuropsychological Status score) and long-term pulmonary function (full-body plethysmography incl. diffusion capacity for carbon monoxide)
Follow-up
1 year after randomisation
